Week 33
TIP OF THE WEEK
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and pursue what you need. Seriously. You’re not as much of a burden as you think you are. As you will read in this newsletter, I worked a wedding this past weekend. I had a few “audio” hiccups that would have been rough to deal with later if I didn’t pursue “potentially inconveniencing someone”. I asked the groom to double check his mic and sure enough, it had fallen off of him. I would have completely missed the private vows and been so upset later. Also… when I plugged my recorder into the DJ’s sound board - there was a major hiss. I asked him if we could do anything about it and we were able to plug into a different “out” that had a much cleaner signal. I’m glad I didn’t let fear, embarrassment, or worry about inconveniencing someone stop me from asking for what I needed. I now know I can deliver a wonderful wedding video with clean audio because of those two important follow up questions. So just go for it. Ask the question. It’s worth it.
JORDYN UPDATES
Highs of the week: | Reality of the week: |
Guys, I’m going to keep it short this week. Thanks for understanding. The truth is, I’ve been working nonstop and really need some rest. I feel so sleepy while writing this newsletter.
BUT, I just want to say… if you stick around, I’ve got some cool creative things coming your way soon. I’m creating a few special videos and I can’t wait to share them with you when they’re ready.
Here’s a little something interesting for you to ponder this week: if you have a skill you’ve spent time on in your life - like filmmaking - what if you taught it to a friend and let them try? There’s a lot of cool experiences that can come from this. That GIF you see of me above… that’s a result of me teaching someone how to be my assistant at a wedding. They’ve never really been behind a camera before and they captured a LOT of beautiful shots that I will definitely be using in the final video. This just creates a fun experience for everyone. It’s cool to let people into your world. They can get to know what you do on a deeper level and will probably have some fun trying. Plus, if you work with cameras like me, maybe you’ll get some surprise behind the scenes shots of yourself like I did. That’s a plus, haha.
Anyway, just something to think about. I will keep coming through with valuable insight in newsletters - but I’m keeping this one simple. I hope you’re doing well! I appreciate you all!
This week’s creative challenge:
This challenge is specific... sorry that not everyone will probably be able to participate. BUT if you have a drone, I imagine you mostly use it for video OR photo. Whatever you don’t use as often - go do that! I mostly film with my drone. I hardly do drone photography. I think it’s about time I went out and used it in a different way - so I’m challenging you to do the same.
