Week 30

TIP OF THE WEEK

I have a theory. This is coming from me…so I’m not claiming to be any expert. Just a personal theory. I think we’re often exhausted and creatively burnt out not because of lack of inspiration but because of too much. We have too much input. If you search up one thing you’re curious about…the next day you’ll have 20 ads about that topic. You’ll then have 20 different opinions about how you should go about something and all of that input can be so overwhelming. You went from needing one question answered to now thinking about 20 different perspectives that bring about new things to think about. This can make creativity or decision making so much more difficult. The information is nice and helpful but fills up our minds so much that it becomes hard to have the energy to pour out creatively. Like I said…this is kinda just me giving even another perspective to you on the internet. BUT, I’m truly trying to help. My tip for this week is to encourage you to balance research and inspiration with solitude and silence. Stop the noise every once in a while and trust yourself. You can make good decisions and you are creative. Even if doubts creep in…just go for it. You know it feels better to create than get sucked into an information hole that you never hop out of.

JORDYN UPDATES

Highs of the week:
• Two National Parks in two weeks? Crazy! But…I’m kinda lying. I did go see the Redwoods but I didn’t go into that actual National Park…just surrounding areas which were so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to see the Redwoods so I’m really glad I finally got to go.
• I got my dream shot in the Redwoods. I’ll explain below.

Reality of the week:
• It’s so tempting to always feel like there’s not enough time. I have felt that with so many things this week. But I think it’s great to learn to slow down and challenge the need for efficiency anyway. So it’s good for me to wrestle with that tension.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23: 2-3a

The amount of times I have been driving through the forest and have seen light rays coming through the trees and didn’t have my camera with me is ridiculous. I’ve always dreamt of getting a shot like that. Well, I finally did! The GIF is going to show this in extremely low quality but don’t worry… you’ll see this frame in a video of mine I’ll be putting together real soon. Here’s your early sneak peak. Yes, that’s a tiny me walking next to the Redwoods.

On a completely different note… the one thing I would love to encourage you in this week is just the reminder that there are seasons in life. When I started this newsletter, I was burnt out, my health was not in a good place, I had some really hard personal things going on, and more. It was a hard time. Currently, I am feeling a lot more optimistic about everything. When you’re in a tough season, it’s sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel… but it’s always there. It will come. Every year, the trees lose their leaves and every year they come back again.

If you’re in a creative burnout season, it’s okay. You will cycle out of it eventually. Don’t give up all hope. If you need a moment to rest, that’s genuinely okay. You can rest. You have permission.

If you are creatively on fire - enjoy that feeling. Ride that momentum and have fun with it. Life is life. It takes us through many seasons. There’s so much to be grateful for.

Thanks for reading my newsletter this week. I hope you have a wonderful day!

This week’s creative challenge:

This week’s challenge is for the person who has created a video or taken a photo and got too nervous to share it. Here’s my challenge to actually share it. Put it out there in the world! Even if you have doubts. It’s okay to do it scared.
