Week 28
TIP OF THE WEEK
Spend some time saying your thoughts out loud. Even if it feels silly. You can ask a friend to listen if you can’t get yourself to do this by yourself. But if you’re in a rut during a project… say those thoughts out loud. Listen to yourself. What are you thinking? Are your thoughts helping you get out of the rut? Are they judgmental? Are they compassionate? Are they true? Sometimes it’s so much easier to understand what’s actually holding us back if we can actually hear our thoughts out loud.
JORDYN UPDATES
Highs of the week: | Reality of the week: |
Have you ever watched a video full of things you already know but it still inspired you? A lot of people don’t want to share things because they feel like the information is already out there. But what they fail to consider is how powerful “relatability” is. Humans love to be validated. We love to feel like we’re not alone in our experiences in this world. Sometimes, all an individual needed was to hear that someone else had a similar experience.
This is true of information beyond experiences too. If you desire to educate people… people learn well by hearing information on repeat. The whole reason there are quizzes and tests in school is to get the information to actually sink in.
Have you ever gone down a YouTube search and watched 5 videos with the same title? That’s probably because you genuinely wanted to hear different perspectives and opinions about the same topic.
So, if you get trapped by the mindset that “there’s too much out there already”, I hope these points help you see a different perspective. Your voice may not be valuable to everyone in the world on every topic every single time… but it is helpful to someone.
A lot of online content uses “numbers” as a determination for success. That mindset is so damaging. Why isn’t it good enough to help one person?
Is this newsletter a failure if only 3 people read my emails? You can say yes, but I’m going to say no. Because if those 3 people actually gained something of value for their day… then it’s worth it. At least to me.
One way I define success is in terms of actually serving and helping others. Of course I want more “numbers” in my email list because I want to help more people and I am trying to build a business. BUT that can coexist with still believing this newsletter is a success even if it never grew from here. (I do have more than 3 readers by the way… and I so so so so appreciate you guys. I really do hope this newsletter is helpful for you all).
So, I hope you feel encouraged today that your perspective and voice is important. You have value to bring to the table. Try your hardest to actually believe that.
This week’s creative challenge:
Try putting some graphics into a video. I use Adobe Illustrator for this. If you don’t want to make your own, a website called Vecteezy has some you can download royalty free to try out. This challenge is just an idea to get new and different creative ideas rolling.

MY TOP RECOMMENDATIONS
AN EXTRA FOR THOSE WHO MAKE IT TO THE BOTTOM OF MY EMAILS :)
Many of you have probably seen this video of mine before if you’ve been following me for a while but here’s a secret channel of mine. It has videos I made a while ago. I’ve definitely improved since then but I know it’s helpful for others to see what my work looked like about 4-6 years ago. I won’t be posting on this channel so no need to subscribe haha. Just a little secret for my newsletter subscribers.
