Week 29

TIP OF THE WEEK

You know what has a great chance at filling you up creatively? Simply sitting outside. Breathe. Take in the outdoors. Watch the sunset. Listen to the birds. Slow down. Enjoy the natural pattern of the earth. Soak it in. We can get so caught up in screens all day long. We can learn learn learn through educational YouTube videos. These aren’t bad things. But sometimes all that information just needs a moment to soak in. Go enjoy the natural beauty that is available for you just outside your door everyday.

JORDYN UPDATES

Highs of the week:
• See that GIF above? I had the chance to explore and create around Rocky Mountain National Park! That was most definitely a highlight of the week.
• I am just so blessed by the More Than a Filmmaker community. It’s better than I could have ever imagined.
• Actually, why don’t I give better updates down below…

Reality of the week:
• I had to hike up a steep grade with my gear and let me tell ya…I was winded. I know camera gear is heavy but it’s way heavier on a long steep hike haha. 50 extra pounds I’m not used to. Humble confession. 😂
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20

Hi! I skipped one single week of my newsletter and it feels like I haven’t talked with you in forever, haha. I know I usually write these newsletters in an effort to encourage you as a creative…but this week, I hope you don’t mind…I just kinda want to share updates. I feel like for a minute now, I’ve been just trying to keep my head above water. Life has been good but for some reason I was carrying a lot of pressure to maintain my responsibilities. Well…honestly, my little trip out to Colorado was so good for me. I ACTUALLY rested. I brought my camera out and created just for fun. I had the temptation to feel like “I should create” but chose to never create out of that headspace. Instead, I created when it felt right and enjoyable.

I didn’t get a YouTube video out the last two weeks. Oh well. I have my goal to be consistent on YouTube and I’m going to do my darn best but as always…I will never sacrifice genuine content just for consistency’s sake. I am so excited for the video I will make out of the Colorado footage. I’m also headed to another beautiful place this weekend so some good footage will be coming your way soon.

I honestly haven’t looked through a ton of my photos/videos from the trip yet…but here’s a small selection of the ones I have looked at.

Photo of a car in the woods

I just thought this car looked cool.

A photo of a waterfall

I’m actually impressed that I got a crisp long exposure photo without a tripod.

A photo of a blue jay

This bird is cool haha.

This is actually a 30 second timelapse. Here’s just a snippet of it in really low quality.

I’m just so thankful for this career. This world is so beautiful and it’s so fun to capture it. I have some other REALLY exciting updates but I can’t share them just yet. If you stick around, you’ll hear some more fun updates from me soon.

I hope you all are well. Thanks for so kindly following along on my journey. I hope this newsletter continues to be a positive in your week. I am so thankful for the family that has been built here. Thanks guys!

This week’s creative challenge:

When’s the last time you took your camera out without a plan? How about you do that and just go create this week. No agenda. Just do things. Create things. Photograph things. Film things. Experiment with settings. Just have fun!

MY TOP RECOMMENDATIONS

AN EXTRA FOR THOSE WHO MAKE IT TO THE BOTTOM OF MY EMAILS :)

I have always been so impressed by the quality that comes out of my Canon EOS R5 C. Go take a peek at the photo of the bird above. This is the same photo. Check out how much detail I can retain this zoomed in. It’s so cool to me.

Close up of bird.

This is even closer. Isn’t that crazy? I am so thankful for this camera.

Closer up of bird.

Have a great day!

Best, Jordyn
